Dhananjaya Dendukuri, CEO & Co-Founder
Dhananjaya Dendukuri is Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder of Achira Labs. Dhananjaya returned to India with his passion for engineering and belief that there is no better context for specific technology development that can be translated into solutions that have a big impact and unserved markets. He was named as one of 20 individuals to receive the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT’s) Technology Review’s prestigious TR35 awards in India for the work that was being done at Achira. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 2007 in where his thesis work received the Senturia Prize for the best dissertation in the area of micro and nanotechnology. Prior to that, Dhananjaya obtained a MASC in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto and a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras where he received the ‘Institute Blue’. Outside of work, Dhananjaya enjoys running through the leafy parts of Bangalore and playing the Carnatic violin.
Purbasha Halder, Lead Scientist
Purbasha works on new reader development. She holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Hamburg, Germany. Her previous experience includes development and instrumentation of optical sensors. Before she joined Achira, she worked at GE for many years in instrumentation. She is an avid supporter of public transport and makes her long commutes to work, sustainable, by bus!
Mithila Jha, Head – Product Delivery & Finance
Mithila leads product delivery and oversees product development at Achira. Her team is responsible for integrating technical platform parameters with functional requirements of user needs for product development. She designs and develops methodologies to evaluate the performance of tests. Her team verifies and validates products to meet the required standards before they are deployed at commercial sites.
In addition to this, she heads finance where she provides strategic guidance and assists in financial management.She holds a masters degree in economic development planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Before joining Achira she was involved with operations research and transport planning. She is passionate about public transport and believes that Achira’s point-of-care solution to a small extent has the potential to decongest cities!
Lokanathan Arcot, Lead – Platform Development
Loka has a background in bio interphases and surface chemistry, He is involved in research and development of biochemical aspects of the immunodiagnostics platform. He holds a Bachelor’s and master’s in general chemistry from Sri Sathya Sai University, followed by PhD in nanotechnology, specialising in biomedical surface chemistry, from Aarhus University, Denmark. Before joining Achira, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Aalto University, Finland, working on nano-cellulose based sensor development. He is an amateur writer, slowly and steadily working on his second short novel. First one was titled ‘Nuclear Crusade’.
Raghavendra Katti, Senior Lead – Accounts
Katti leads accounts and brings with him 18 years of experience in accounts, statutory compliance and HR. He is currently in-charge of day-to-operations at Achira and is involved with manufacturing operations. He holds a degree in management and worked in an export house for almost two decades before joining Achira. He is passionate about Kannada movies and sings himself old Kannada songs while working and nobody is watching!
Bhavna Goyal, Senior Scientist
Bhavna is a biochemist who is involved with new assays and platform development.She has a Bachelors and Master of Science in Biochemistry from University of Delhi, India and a PhD in Life Sciences from ICGEB, New Delhi. Before joining Achira, she was a postdoc at the Department of Biological Sciences, TIFR. She enjoys playing badminton, listening to music and reading.
Rakesh Sharma, Lead – Product Development
Rakesh is a biomedical engineering graduate from IIT(BHU) and leads Product Development at Achira. After a brief stint at Innovation group of Wipro Technologies, he is followed his passion for medical diagnostics with us. He is involved in assay optimisation and improving the efficiency of processes for product development. He and his team are involved in converting platform parameters to a product to transfer to customer sites. If not at Achira, you would find him gearing up for a bike trip during the weekend.
Gokul Prasath R, Lead – Product Application
Gokul is Biomedical Engineer from PSG and works on design and development of instruments. He was involved with running manufacturing operations and currently takes care o the delivery of ACIX100 series instrument at customer sites. He joined Achira five years ago and has deep knowledge of different aspects of the technology. His interests are in the areas of smart and connected devices and primary health monitoring. An avid fan of field hockey, he spends his time in playing hockey and running during the weekends
Anil Kumar Modali, Lead – Product Manufacturing
Anil Modali has a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India and subsequently did masters in Microtechnology at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. As a Design Engineer at Achira Labs, Anil is involved in the production of microfluidic devices and works on scale-up of the manufacturing processes. He currently manages manufacturing operations at Achira. When he isn’t at Achira, he is away in Hyderabad devouring delicious Andhra cuisine
Manoj Kumar Sadasivuni, Lead Scientist
Manoj has a PhD in Biological Sciences and Biochemistry from University of Muenster, Germany. He comes with a decade of experience in protein biochemistry and Industrial Research specialising in metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. Before he joined Achira, he worked in Connexious Life Sciences, Bangalore as a Senior Research Scientist.
SureshKumar K, Lead – Transfer to Manufacturing
He joined Achira with more than a decade of experience in bio-analytical and Quality Control studies. He is involved in developing methods for streamlining the process for transfer-to-manufacturing from product development and making production processes regulatory ready. Prior to Achira, he worked in NIN (ICMR), NRCM (ICAR), and BITS, Ranchi.
